Is it February already?

So much for Happy New Year?! January came and went, after the Holidays, I got caught up with my daughter Danni's Baby Shower. Not long after that, my neice got married. With family visiting and a full schedule, our 2 dogs gave birth and before we got the papa fixed this past Tuesday, there's already a 3rd litter on the way probably in March. Wheew...talk about craziness?! We had a crash course in learning about small dogs nursing and the importance of supplementing their diets with calcium. The first mama, a small Pomeranian almost died, thank God our wonderful Veternarian Dr. Patrick Ahana got out of bed and opened his Clinic just for us @ 3am that Sunday morning. Naya needed calcium intravenously. When we got there, she could barely move, her legs were stiff and shaking as if she was having a seizure. She could not stand, sit or do anything accept watch us with her eyes wide open. It was so hard to see her like that, but just a few minutes after the doctor gave her some calcium, she was up and walking around. We left @ 4:05 a.m. We are so very thankful to Dr. Ahana, we love you! Thank God for the internet too, I googled Naya's symptoms and came up with her diagnosis which was Eclampsia. I mentioned it to the doctor and sure enough, that's what she had. It was so scarey. I'm glad it's over and she's ok. Only thing now is that I'm busy feeding her puppies puppy formula with a medicine dropper...sleepless nights, I'm so tired during the days at work. Anyway, Naya had 3 female pups. Mija, one of our Shitzus who was the 2nd mama, also had 3, but we lost 2 of them. They were the cutest little male puppies. We feel so bad they didn't make it. Her girl is very healthy though and Mija has no problem feeding her.
So, that's what I've been up to. I will post some photos we took of the centerpieces and decorations we made for the shower. The theme entitled "Oh So Sweet" and we did a Sweet Shop. Can u tell with the faux chocolates? They looked so real, some of the keikis pulled them off and tried to them! They figured it out though and instead ate up the real candies that were in the plant pot. We also had some sprinkled on the tables between the centerpieces.
Hmmm...think I'll make up a batch to sell on my Etsy for Valentines?! But isn't that a couple weeks from now? Gee, I need to get started soon.
Will post some pics of the babies. Talk about babies...Danni's duedate is on the 8th. Oh-oh, Looks like another busy month.
Happy February!

Hi Cee, You have a fabulous blog, it's really interesting. I love dogs too - any breed, they are all lovely to me. Your little breeds are so very cute. I had no idea that they could suffer through a lack of calcium, I've never heard that before. Thank goodness you were able to get yours to the vet on time. x
